Hornbill: Cultural activities enthrall visitors on day 9

Cultural troupes from various tribes enthralled the visitors on the 9th day of the Hornbill Festival at main arena, Kisama on December 9. Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Nalin S. Kohli was the chief guest while advisor, Tourism and Art & Culture, Khehovi Yeputhomi was the host of the morning session.
A DIPR report stated that then event began with a Rugala, a ritual practiced by the ancient A’chiks of the Garo tribe, enacted by the Garo Cultural troupe from Ekranipathar Village.
Dimasa Kachari Cultural Troupe performed a serpent dance called ‘Baikhon/Baijubu’ which is performed by both men and women.
‘Luda & Thülo,’ a traditional game commonly played in Southern Angami villages was also performed. It is an indigenous game played solely by the menfolk of a village for entertainment, and also to develop a sense of brotherhood.
Zeliang Cultural Troupe, Pochury Cultural Troupe, Sumi Cultural Troupe, Lotha Cultural Troupe, Kuki Cultural Troupe, Chakhesang Cultural Troupe, Rengma Cultural Troupe also presented cultural performances.
At the evening session, Yogendra Garg, Chief Commissioner of Central GST and Customs, Guwahati Zone graced the programme as the chief guest, and Karunakar Das, Chief General Manager and Head of NTPC, Bongaigaon as the honoured guest. The evening session was hosted by Temjen Imna Along, minister, Tribal Affairs and Higher Education.

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has set up a counter at Hornbill Festival, 2022, Kisama to help individuals in management of their personal finances and to help them in various issues like complexity of financial products, prevalence of fraudulent and Ponzi schemes, need for funds to get a better quality of life after retirement, etc.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India counter will be opened till December 10 to help investors and those interested in investing in stock markets, by helping them to open a demat account, protecting accounts from unauthorised trades, basics of investing, etc. An official manning SEBI counter said that the local populace visiting the counter for queries and doubts were few, but has received a number of domestic tourists seeking answers related to their investments.
