Hornbill Fest Traffic advisory

In view of the forthcoming Hornbill Festival and with events to be held at various locations within Kohima Town from December 1 to 10, Kohima police has issued traffic advisory for smooth flow of traffic during festive period.

According to PRO Kohima police, no heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter Kohima Municipal area after 7 a.m. till 10 p.m. from December 1-10. 

To mitigate traffic congestion, all heavy vehicles will be stopped at– Chaprü Peducha, Jotsoma By-Pass, Khuzama Police check gate. All loading/unloading within Kohima Municipal area are to be completed before 7 a.m. 

The road stretch from Y-Junction Phoolbari to Razhü Point will be restricted for vehicular traffic from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on all days during the festival to facilitate Kohima Night Carnival. 

All traffic will be diverted from Y-Junction to Razhü Point via Local Ground (Khuochiezie). 

There will be no-entry for any vehicular traffic from New Market to New NST from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

No parking between Classic Point and PHQ junction while all displaced vehicles along this stretch will be parked at New Multi-Level Parking building, Old Medical directorate.

Further, bus stand at PHQ junction (BOC bus stand) will be shifted from the present location to the area opposite NSF Martyrs’ Park area.

Parking facilities will be available at the following locations: New Multi-Level parking building, Old Medical Directorate; City Centre (Old MLA Hostel building) and Northern Gate Local Ground, (Khuochiezie). 

All commercial pick-up vehicles shall be parked at KMC Chaü Parking, Forest Colony and Tata Parking, Bayavü. No commercial pick-up vehicles will be allowed to park in any unauthorised parking areas.

Commuter traversing between Kohima and Kisama and also those commuting within Kohima have been advised to take the following route– NH-29-Merhülietsa Colony (Para-Medical) –Old Fira Jn. Route; TCP Gate-Midland-Lower Chandmari-AG Colony-Lerie-NH-29 route. BSNL Jn-Old Ministers’ Hill-New Ministers’ Hill-Aradhura-New Reserve-NH-29 route. NHK Jn-New Market-Naga Bazaar-Census office Jn.
