Hornbill festival blood donation camp

Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Nagaland State Branch, in collaboration with Naga Hospital Authority Kohima and Voluntary Blood Donors Association, will host the Hornbill Festival Blood Donation Camp at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on December 7.


Healthy individuals of any ethnicity have been invited to voluntarily donate blood from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Testing will be conducted on the donors, and the collected blood will be stored at the Blood Centre, NHAK, for patients in need. IRCS Nagaland, extending beyond medical aid, offers first aid at the festival venue and imparts CPR training to interested individuals.


Additionally, the society is also providing free ambulance service from Kisama to any hospital in Kohima for patients requiring transport in case of emergencies
Meanwhile, Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland state branch extended medical assistances to two persons. Trainer for the First Aid Master Class, Kholie Dolf informed Nagaland Post that on December 2, free ambulance service was provided to an army personnel, who slipped and fell unconscious. Since his condition was serious, he was transported to Jakhama unit. On December 4, a female member of the Lotha troop from Bhandari experienced extreme cold at Kisama and fainted, due to dehydration, and was taken to Bethesda Hospital for medical attention, Dolf said.


In addition to those incidents, there were reports of individuals causing disturbances under the influence of alcohol during the night. Those individuals were also treated for minor bruises and provided first aid, Dolf said.
