The Hornbill Night Carnival, organized by the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) as part of the ongoing 25th Hornbill Festival 2024, concluded on Wednesday.
The carnival, held from ‘Y’ Junction to Razhü Point in Kohima’s main town area, drew an average of 2,000 to 3,000 visitors daily since its commencement on December 1, with an additional day extension.
On the closing day, awards were presented to recognize outstanding contributions to the event. Aurora (Restaurant & Lodging) received the Best Decorated Building award, Dzülievi-ü Zatsu (The Angami Stall) was named the Best Innovative Stall, while the Most Promising Stall award went to Rengma Stall.
KCCI president Kezhazer Angami, KCCI advisor Metekhrielie Mejura, and Hornbill Night Carnival management committee convenor Ruokuobeizo Kire handed over the awards.
This year’s carnival featured 176 stalls, showcasing a variety of local products, food, and crafts. A major highlight was the Hornbill Carnival Parade on the seventh day, organized by the Kohima Village Youth Organisation in collaboration with the Tourism Department and KCCI, which added to the festive atmosphere. The Hornbill Night Carnival has been a key attraction for visitors, celebrating the cultural vibrancy and entrepreneurial spirit of the people.
