DIMAPUR: Medical Department will be conducting a Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign in Zunheboto district, with eligible beneficiaries encouraged to avail the vaccination.
The campaign aims to protect eligible girls against cervical cancer, commonly referred to as womb cancer. The circular stated that HPV vaccination provides 93% to 100% protection against cervical cancer and has been used in more than 160 countries since its introduction in 2006.
According to Medical Department, the HPV has been available in private hospitals since 2008, with more than 50 crore doses distributed. The vaccination is available for girls aged 14 years-specifically those who have already celebrated their 14th birthday but not yet their 15th. Beneficiaries are required to bring their Aadhaar Card or Birth Certificate for verification.
