A felicitation programme for the toppers, rank holders and achievers of HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2025 was held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, here Thursday.
Nagaland Governor La Ganesan, who could not attend the event due to ill health, in his written address, read out by advisor school education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, congratulated 2025 HSLC and HSSLC toppers, rank holders, and achievers. Governor said it was a great honour and privilege to present the Governor’s Awards to students who had shown exceptional academic excellence in the 2025 board examinations.
Congratulating the toppers as well as all successful candidates, the governor described their achievements as a significant milestone in their academic journey and a stepping stone to greater success in life.
He stressed that while the students rightly deserved recognition, the moment of achievement was shared with their families, teachers, and educational institutions, who had played a vital role in nurturing, guiding and supporting them.
The governor acknowledged the unwavering support, sacrifices and encouragement extended by parents and families, whose consistent presence formed the foundation of the students’ success.
He further lauded the dedication of teachers and schools, stating that their commitment to shaping young minds went far beyond classroom teaching. According to him, teachers had instilled discipline, curiosity, and a desire to excel, while schools had provided the essential resources and frameworks necessary for students to pursue their dreams.
Ganesan called upon the students to reflect on the larger context of their achievements. He reminded them that they were fortunate to have access to education, supportive families, and institutions in an era of peace, stability and rapid technological advancement. He further reminded them that privilege carried with it a profound sense of responsibility.
The governor encouraged the students to be lifelong learners, to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and to cultivate resilience in an ever-evolving world. He emphasised those qualities would determine their real success beyond examination results.
In his short speech, advisor Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, underscored the importance of recognising the collective efforts behind individual success. He stated that while success may appear to be a singular achievement, it was, in fact, shaped by numerous unseen contributors including parents, teachers, and the community.
Dr. Yhome congratulated the toppers and lauded the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) for its consistent efforts in conducting fair and successful examinations over the years.
Pointing to the broader educational landscape in Nagaland, he acknowledged the regional disparities in performance, observing that most of the state’s toppers continue to emerge from Kohima and Dimapur. He reminded the achievers that they should feel grateful for having access to better educational facilities.
However, he encouraged students to always remain connected to their roots and communities, regardless of where success takes them.
Highlighting the significance of education in shaping lives, Dr. Yhome remarked that apart from divine grace, education was the only path to true freedom. He shared a personal reflection, stating that it was solely through the hard work of his parents that he was able to attain education and become the person he was today.
Dr. Yhome later handed out Governor’s Awards to HSLC & HSSLC Toppers; Governor’s Awards (HSLC & HSSLC) for achievers in MIL & Skill Education Subjects, Government School Students, Students from Eastern Nagaland; Governor’s Excellence Award for Science Study (HSSLC) and NBSE Awards to HSLC & HSSLC Toppers.
The programme was chaired by Vitsüsie Nagi, while Rev. Iringtie Kauring, pastor, Zeme Baptist Church, Kohima, offered prayer.
Introductory address was given by Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, secretary & chairperson (addl. Charge), NBSE. A special song was presented by Nchumbemo R. Lotha from Rüzhükhrie GHSS, Kohima and a duet performance by Avibou Belho & Shahpong Phom from Ministers’ Hill Baptist HSS, Kohima.
