In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his wife (around 34 years) at Thilixu Village, under Chümoukedima district, on Sunday afternoon.
According to police sources, the incident was reported around 5 p.m., following which police apprehended the accused, identified as one Kughato Yeptho (38), who was found loitering in a shocked state while some reports stated that the accused had surrendered himself at Diphupar Police Station after committing the crime.
Police said that the accused has been into custody at an undisclosed location. Preliminary investigation revealed that the newly married couple had an altercation, following which the husband allegedly attacked his wife with a machete. Deep cut marks were reportedly found on the victim’s back. Police said that further investigation into the case is underway.
AUD condemns, expels accused
Aquba Union Dimapur (AUD) in a press note vehemently condemned the cold blooded murder of Hutoshi by her husband Kughato Yeptho on February 9.
In a condemnation note, Aquba Union Dimapur president Kheshito Chophy and general secretary Hoito Yeptho urged the law enforcement agency to take action as per the law of the land.
The union further said that the accused Kughato Yeptho has been “expelled” from AUD for lifetime. AUD said that Kughato, son of Kakiho Yeptho is a permanent resident of Aquba ‘A’ village under Aghunato sub-division.
