DIMAPUR: The new building of Health & Wellness Centre (HWC), Chekiye, was inaugurated by Dr. Keveduyi Theyo, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Nagaland, in the presence of community leaders, health officials and villagers on June 13, 2026.
The programme began with an invocation by Elika Y. Swu, pastor, CVBC, followed by welcome remarks from Akahoto T. Shohe, chairman, JAS HWC Chekiye.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Theyo said the Centre represents a commitment to accessible and dignified healthcare, shifting focus from curative treatment to preventive and promotive care. He informed that the HWC will provide comprehensive primary services including maternal and child health, immunisation, screening and management of non communicable diseases and cancers, tuberculosis and malaria services, along with essential drugs and laboratory facilities. Wellness activities such as yoga, exercise, dietary counselling and mental health support will also be integrated. He urged villagers to take ownership of the facility and make full use of the services.
Hukiye Yepthomi, vice chairman, Chekiye Village Council, presented the construction report, noting that the Centre was built on land donated by Chekiye Village Baptist Akukuhou with community contributions for boundary fencing. He assured continued cooperation for its maintenance.
The event concluded with a benediction by Lito Zhimo, children pastor, Chekiye Village Baptist Church. It was attended by CMOs of Dimapur and Chümoukedima, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Dimapur, Dy. CMO Dimapur, DTO, DPO CD I, MO i/c PHC Chümoukedima, and staff under CMO and DPMU.
