
A felicitation programme for parliamentary secretary, industries & commerce Amenba Yaden was held at the conference hall of the directorate of industries & commerce (I&C) in Kohima on May 29.
Addressing the programme, Amenba Yaden said that the department of industries & commerce was considered one of the large and major departments, however, he maintained that only a few states in India were without industries and Nagaland was one of those states.
Pointing out that there were thousands of educational unemployment youths in the state, Amenba said at the rate of development in the state, their future looks very bleak and alarming.
Parliamentary secretary, therefore, called upon the offices and staff of I&C department to keep in mind the need of the society while planning out schemes. He also urged them to implement schemes with clear and clean motives.
Further, he maintained that the department cannot have a solution for each and everyone, but must have something to offer to the upcoming generation and engage them in some gainful self-employments.
Stating that Nagas were an agrarian society and would take time to adapt to industrial culture, Amenba, however, said without industrialization the modern society cannot progress.
Therefore, he called on the officers to play a responsible role for uplifting the economy of the people and to sincerely dedicate in carrying out one assigned duties.
Parliamentary secretary said he has plans to visit the district offices to see the activities of the department. He has asked the district offices to ensure that the projects were implemented in their respective area.
I&C director Er.Kahoto Sema gave a brief overview of the department while commissioner & secretary M.K. Mero chaired the programme and delivered the welcome address.
M.K. Mero also apprised the parliamentary secretary on the revival of the Tuli Paper Mill and hoped that it becomes functional during his tenure as parliamentary secretary for I&C.
During an interaction session with the officers, the department expressed its desire to affiliate the chairmanship of various Co-operations headed by a General Manager under I&C including NIDC, NHL etc. with the parliamentary secretary for I&C for better and effective functioning.
I&C additional director, Bendangliba proposed the vote of thanks while deputy director, Bengangmenla offered the invocation prayer. The felicitation programme was attended by officers and staff of the directorate and district offices.
