DIMAPUR, OCT 6 (NPN): A total of 530 students graduated from ICFAI University Nagaland at its 4th Convocation held on Tuesday. Of these, 46 students received gold medals, five secured distinctions, and one was awarded a Certificate of Merit.
Addressing the gathering as guest of honour, Dr. Damodar Reddy, Professor and Dean, IFHE Hyderabad, congratulated the graduates and acknowledged the contributions of teaching and non teaching staff in shaping their academic journey. He highlighted the role of the ICFAI Society, noting that it has established 11 universities across India, including five in the Northeastern states-Nagaland, Mizoram, Sikkim, Meghalaya and Tripura-with the objective of providing accessible and affordable higher education to remote and tribal communities. He encouraged the graduates to become responsible citizens, contribute to society, and play a role in nation building.
The convocation was presided over by Associate Dean, Dr. Kevizonuo Kuolie, and attended by the Chancellor, members of the Board of Governors, Board of Management, and other dignitaries.
The academic procession marked the beginning of the programme, followed by the National Anthem and lighting of the traditional lamp. Vice Chancellor, Dr. Amit Kumar Aditya, declared the convocation open and delivered the welcome address along with the university report.
The convocation address of the Governor of Nagaland was read out by the Associate Dean, after which the Vice Chancellor conferred degrees to the graduates. Medals and certificates were presented by dignitaries, and the graduating students took the pledge.
The Registrar proposed the vote of thanks, following which Dr. Aditya declared the convocation closed. The programme concluded with the National Anthem and the academic procession exiting the hall.
