With an aim to ensure uniform quality services across all the Integrated Counseling and Testing Centres (ICTCs) in Nagaland, two-day training on “implementation of quality management system (QMS)” was conducted for ICTC staff for five districts in Nagaland.
The training for Kohima, Wokha and Mokokchung districts was held on July 26 and 27 at De Oriental grand, Kohima while training for the districts of Dimapur and Tuensang was conducted on July 28 and 29 at Hotel lake Shilloi, Dimapur.
Speaking at the inaugural programme at Kohima as chief guest, department of health and family welfare, principal director Dr. L. Watikala, highlighted the values of quality services in the ICTCs. He also appreciated SHARE India for taking forward the QMS activity in the state through NSACS.
NSACS project director, Dr. Meguosielie Kire, spoke on the values of training and proper monitoring of the activities to attain the goal while SHARE, India, project manager Dr. Nangjong, briefed the participants about the training objectives.
The trainings were facilitated by trained personnel from Share India, officials from NSACS and SRL, Kohima including NACO, technical officer, Smita Mishra, Dr. P. Tia Jamir, JD, BSD, NSACS, Dr. Margaret Yhome, HoD, Microbiology in-charge State Reference Laboratory (SRL), NHAK & Dr. Nangjong, Project Officer, Project LaQSH, SHARE India, Hyderabad.
The training topics included lab services under NACP IV, ICTC under NACP IV, introduction to HIV testing and Introduction to Quality Management System (QMS) in ICTC while group work sessions on Role of Counselors in QMS at ICTC, preparation of SOPs and Use of the ICTC QMS checklist were also taken.
Altogether 82 participants consisting of medical officers, ICTC counselors, laboratory technicians, district ICTC supervisors and District Program Managers (DAPCU) were trained. The training was hosted by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) with support from NACO, CDC and SHARE India.
