IDCF campaigns to be launched in Mkg, Wka

District task force (DTF) meeting on IDCF and introduction of rotavirus vaccine was convened at ADC conference hall Mokokchung on May 27.

A press release from DPMU, CMO office stated that, Dr Ayangla Saku DPO (RCH UIP) gave a brief introductory about the programme, wherein she informed that IDCF campaign will commence from May 28 to June 8. It aims to create mass awareness about the most effective and low cost diarrhea treatment a combination of oral rehydration salt (ORS) solution and Zinc tablets. She emphasized to attain zero child deaths due to diarrhea in the age group of 0 to 5 years. 

During the fortnight, intensified community awareness campaign on hygiene and promotion of ORS and Zinc therapy will be conducted. ASHA workers would undertake distribution of ORS packets to household under 5 years in the village. Frontline workers will hold demonstration of ORS preparation along with counselling on feeding during diarrhea, hygiene and sanitation.

She also informed about the introduction of rotavirus vaccine will be included in the routine immunization which will be launched in the state by July 2019.

She urged the allied departments, NGOs and health workers to take active participation for the success of the programme.Dr. Chubala Aier CMO in her brief speech welcomed and thanked the different departments, civil societies for always supporting the Medical department.

The meeting was chaired by W. Manpai Phom ADC Mokokchung  and attended by CMO, DPO (UIP&RCH), DVBO, representatives from Social Welfare, Education, DPRO, civil societies, medical officers and health workers.

Wokha IDCF: Wokha district will also observe the IDCF from May 28 to June 8. DC Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, chairman of IDCF urged all the stakeholders of the district to come forward and help the implementing agencies to reach the goal of zero death rate in the district. District immunization officer (DIO), Dr. Khalito said that the implementation agency has already targeted ten thousand children below five years of age to be administered ORS and zinc at households throughout the one hundred thirty seven (137) villages and thirty seven (37) colonies in the urban areas in the district. ASHA workers will supervise the programme in the rural areas while the Anganwadi workers in the urban areas. Implementing agency has also identified 52 heath units, one district hospital, 12 CHCs, 12 PHCs and 37 sub-centres. Agency will reach out to various educational institutions in the district.
