
100-day IEC campaign under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to provide functional tap connection to all schools and anganwadi centres was held at Toulazouma and Kirha on November 25 at council hall, Chümoukedima block under urban division, Dimapur.
According to DIPR report, in his keynote address, SDO, PHED, Urban division Dimapur, Chubatemjen highlighted about aims and objectives of JJM and ongoing campaign.
He urged participants to work in unison to maintain ODF status and create a conducive environment for a healthy life. He maintained that the department would do everything possible to make JJM a success.
S&H consultant, PHED, Urban Dimapur, Vito Sema spoke on healthy sanitary practices and on the role of anganwadi workers, teachers, parents and Asha workers in bringing behavioural change in children and to inculcate in them good sanitary practices.
State chemist, PHED Dimapur, Roland Kikon elaborated on the importance of safe drinking water, different water contaminants and their ill effects, water-sanitation related diseases and others.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by JE, PHED Dimapur (Urban), Temsutoshi Yaden who pointed out that along with efforts put in by the government to provide clean drinking water, it was equally important for the community to put in the same to achieve the goal.
School teachers, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, WATSAN and village council members attended the programme.
