DIMAPUR: Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) visited the Dan Company Operating Base (COB) on August 25 and interacted with troops, reviewing their operational readiness, welfare and security posture in the border area.
During the visit, IGAR (North) appreciated the commitment, professionalism and operational preparedness of the troops in maintaining peace and security in the challenging border region. He also held an interaction with members of the Village Council and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Dan village.
The representatives highlighted developmental requirements, including construction of a paved road from RCC Bridge to Dan COB and provision of solar powered lights in the village. IGAR (North) assured them that genuine developmental needs would be taken up with the concerned authorities for early resolution.
The CSOs also expressed concerns regarding the proposed border fencing. IGAR (North) apprised them of the security benefits and importance of fencing, while assuring that the concerns of the local population would be duly considered. He conveyed that the views of the community would be appropriately taken into account.
The interaction reinforced mutual trust, cooperation and Assam Rifles’ commitment towards the welfare and development of border communities. The visit also reaffirmed the Force’s endeavour to maintain security while remaining closely engaged with the local populace.
