The Insight Institute of Christian Counseling (IICC), Sovima, concluded its month-long mental health first aid training for ministry leaders on September 27. The sessions, held every Saturday throughout September, were conducted in collaboration with the Ladies Ministry of 7th Milestone Church, Chumoukedima.
According to a press release issued by IICC, the training was led by psychotherapist, certified mental health coach and founder of IICC, Dr. Yehoto Swu Kiho.
Participants were equipped to identify early signs of mental health challenges, recognize risk factors and warning signs for suicide, understand common disorders such as depression and anxiety, and discern between demonic influence and mental illness. They were also trained on when and how to refer individuals for professional help. The training was noted for its integration of biblical perspectives with clinical insights, enabling ministry leaders to respond to individuals in distress with both faith and evidence-based care.
