ILP checks in Dimapur on Assam poll returnees

Authorities in Dimapur have intensified Inner Line Permit (ILP) checks across the district following a visible influx of people returning from neighbouring Assam after the recently concluded Assembly elections.
A significant number of individuals, who had temporarily relocated to Assam during the election period, have returned to Dimapur, prompting the district administration and police to heighten vigilance.
Checkpoints at key entry points have been reinforced, with strict verification of Inner Line Permit documents now in force.
Officials manning the checkpoints said individuals with valid Inner Line Permit were being allowed entry after thorough verification. The officials also said that those without ILP but possessing valid identity proofs such as Aadhaar cards or Voter ID cards were permitted entry upon payment of Rs 200, for which official receipts were issued.
The authorities stated that the measures were aimed at ensuring proper documentation and effective monitoring of movement. Individuals without valid permits have been directed to obtain their Inner Line Permit from the office of the Deputy Commissioner at the earliest.
Contact details of such persons were also being recorded for follow-up and monitoring purposes.
The verification exercise is being jointly conducted by Dobashis and police personnel at key locations including Dilai Gate, New Field Check Gate, and Dimapur Railway Station.
