An Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) led by Ravinesh Kumar from NDMA visited Noklak and Kiphire on December 12 to assess the damage to crops and property due to landslides and heavy windstorms.
At Noklak, the team visited three major damage sites- Kiammong landslide, Punyaongan (Noklak) landslide, High School sector “A” Noklak house damaged by a landslide.
Deputy Commissioner & chairman DDMA, Noklak K. Mhathung Tsanglao welcomed the IMCT team and briefed them on the overall situation of the district.
A PowerPoint presentation on the disaster situation of the district was given by Tanghiu, District Project Associate, DDMA Noklak.
The team included Anil Kumar Singh, Under Secretary Rural Housing Division, Department of Rural Development, Ankit Umrao, Assistant Executive Engineer (C), Brahmaputra Basin Organization, Central Water Commission was accompanied by David Thupitor, Asst. Manager (Administration) NSDMA, Tsapi, Inspector of Statistics.
Kiphire: The IMCT team and officials from Kohima visited Kiphire and held a joint meeting with the district heads of departments and various NGOs leaders at DC’s Conference Hall Kiphire. DC Kiphire T Wati Aier highlighted the activities of DDMA Kiphire. He said this year due to heavy windstorms and natural calamities many houses were damaged and even road connectivity was affected in many villages. DDMA Kiphire along with the administration visited the affected areas and incentives were given to those affected villages.
Aier informed that awareness and training were held in various schools, public places, and offices by DDMA Kiphire. DEO Kiphire also highlighted some of the grievances and problems faced by the department that were affected by the landslide and heavy windstorm. The ministerial team informed them to apply to the NSDMA and informed that the matters will be taken up at the earliest. The central team also visited the places affected by a landslide at Forest ward Kiphire.
