India Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms across the Northeast region. According to IMD, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-35 kmph) is likely over Assam and Meghalaya from March 30 to April 2, and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on March 30-31. IMD said isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya till April 1, and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on March 31.
