Authorities of Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung and Chest Diseases & TB Hospital (CDTBH), Mokokchung have expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the damage to hospital property by a mob on Wednesday evening.
In a joint statement, medical superintendents of IMDH and CDTBH said such acts of violence and vandalism not only endangered the well-being of patients and staff, but also inflicted lasting damage on vital healthcare infrastructure that served the community in times of need.
They stressed that hospitals were sanctuaries of healing, places where compassion and care should prevail over chaos and destruction. According to them, the reprehensible behaviour exhibited by the mob not only undermined the values of respect, empathy and cooperation that were at the core of any civilised society but also jeopardised the healthcare ecosystem.
They hoped and prayed that all individuals and organisations would condemn such acts and care for public property as their own personal property so that such acts could be prevented in the future.
