Immanuel College, Dimapur, celebrated its 32nd Freshers’ Social cum Annual Day on August 29 on the theme “Empowering Potential, Creating Futures” at the college premises with Extra Assistant Commissioner, Longleng, Imkongnukla Ao, NCS attended the programme as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Ao urged students to recognise and explore their potential and work towards their goals with focus and determination. She encouraged them not to allow circumstances to define their identity or limit what they could achieve.
Emphasising the importance of preparation, she said developing one’s potential and talent required continuous learning and self-improvement. She encouraged the students to acquire diverse skills, describing every day as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Speaking on failure, Ao advised students to view setbacks as learning experiences rather than allowing them to define their lives. She noted that failures provide lessons and experiences that success alone cannot offer.
She also stressed the importance of good character, observing that position, power and success could have a meaningful impact when placed in the hands of honest and responsible individuals. She encouraged the students to work hard and cultivate a spirit of service towards others, stating that the positive impact one leaves on others through kindness is of lasting value.
The highlight of the programme was the crowning of Mr and Miss Freshers Immanuel College 2026. Following a keenly contested competition, Thechano Humtsoe and Ghokivi Kinimi were crowned Miss and Mr Freshers Immanuel College 2026, respectively.
Yangtila Y Sangtam was adjudged Miss Congeniality, while Heinrich Rongmei was named Mr Personality. Loreni Ngullie and Chingyan T Konyak won Best Ethnic Wear (Female) and Best Ethnic Wear (Male), respectively. A total of 20 freshers participated in the competition.
The first session was compered by Zorah Yepthomi and Bishal Sharma. Idohingbo Haihing delivered the welcome address, while Dr Th. Sharatchandra Singh, Principal of Immanuel College, introduced and presented the programme.
Esho Khunghe K Konyak delivered a speech on behalf of the freshers. The second session was compered by Remichon Angkang and Charles Ezung.
