Exhorting the 8th United Sangtam Gazetted Officers’ Union (USGOU) general conference at Longmatra town on May 15, Imtilemba Sangtam, MLA and Adviser Cooperation Nagaland, said USGOU was the face of the Sangtams and should therefore be very careful in leading the society.
Describing the USGOU as the torch bearers of the Sangtams, the chief guest said one may come from different background but should be united as one in USGOU in order to lead the people.
He challenged the gathering to move forward with unity and prosperity.
Deputy commissioner (DC) Kiphire, A.Chumremo Odyuo, who was cultural chief guest, termed Naga culture as “rich and unique”. Stating that Nagas were known for their rich culture and tradition, he asked the Sangtams to preserve their rich cultural identity.
Exhorting the USGOU members, he said officers were the leaders and should make positive contribution to the tribe.
Stating that officers were the backbone of the society, he appealed to them to work together in bringing people together. He further called upon the USGOU to sincerely discharge their duty with devotion.
The 8th USGOU conference was held at Longmatra Town under Kiphire district from May 14 and 15.
Coinciding with the conference, USGOU on May 14 organized a health camp sponsored by department of land resources Kiphire with James Khulu Tikhir, EAC Longmatra as special guest, who declared the health camp open.
Chairing the programme, USGOU assistant general secretary Levi Keor said the objective of the health camp was to benefit the citizens who could not avail health facility.
He appreciated service rendered by Dr Apong, Dr Holiba and Dr Dheni and also lauded the support of the department of Land resources. Hundreds of patients from 11 villages availed the health facility.
