Incessant rain damages house in Kohima

Incessant rain over the past few days caused a landslide affecting at least three private houses in Merhülitsa Paramedical Colony, Kohima.

It was learnt that massive landslide occurred on Wednesday around 11:45 a.m. bringing down a portion of land with plantation blocking National Highway-29 near Timber Mill, Kohima.

Landowner, John Sekhose said that the landslide damaged portion of his timber house and affected an RCC house which was above the NH-29. He informed that with the expansion work of NH-29 and construction of retaining wall, the area has been witnessing landslides every monsoon since 2018.

Recalling the year 2018 where one of his timber houses was entirely damaged, yesterday’s landslide put another timber house on the brink of collapse and affected an Assam styled house.
