Core Committee of four wards– Penli, Majakong, Lijaba Lijen and Artang Ward– of Mokokchung town has announced that the proposed indefinite bandh on Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) Road from police point and the approach road to IMDH from Luke Sasong Road junction would begin from 6 am on December 16, 2022 as the 14-day ultimatum to repair the road would expire on December 15.
According to core committee convener Lanulemba Longchar and secretary Imtimatsung, based on the words and assurance of DC Mokokchung that the State government had released the required amount for the work, the four wards decided to postpone the bandh in good faith.
However, since the district administration and the department concerned failed to keep their words, the committee said it was going ahead with the proposed agitation.
The committee appealed to Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang, AKM, All Ward Union, MTLT, MCCI, media fraternity, different civil society organisations and citizens of Mokokchung town to cooperate and join hands for the benefit of all.
They pointed out that it had left no stone unturned to repeatedly appeal to the administration and department concerned for immediate repair of the road. The four wards had written several times through the office of Mokokchung DC to the State government for immediate repair of the road and had served an ultimatum with a dateline.
