1-day Gorkha Table Tennis tourney held

Sony Thapa and Anusha Thapa today emerged men’s and women’s champions of the Gorkha Table Tennis Tournament jointly organized by Gorkha Youth Organisation Kohima (GYAK) and Gorkha Students’ Union Kohima (GSUK).
A press release by GYAK president Narayan Bahadur stated that the the one-day event was initiated and sponsored by Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) and played at GPPK Multi-utility Hall Chandmari.
In the final of the men’s category, Sony Thapa defeated Pradeep Lama in three straight sets while in women’s category, Anusha Thapa beat Bimla Limbu in straight sets.
The winners and runners-up received cash prizes and citations from the chief guest Colonel Umesh Chandra Sati, Commandant 1st Assam Rifles in the prize distribution ceremony.
Chandmari Gaon Burah Kalam Chetri and GPPK president Santu Thapa gave away the participation certificate to the players of both the categories.
GSUK vice president Jenny Lamechane Chettri chaired the programme while GYAK president Narayan Bahadur tendered the vote of thanks.
