Two-day 15th Highway Area Sumi Student’s Union (HASSU), hosted by Diphupar Sumi student union culminated on Friday, at Diphupar local ground, Chumoukedima. Delivering short speeches, Asst. Professor in sociology Khesheli Aye reminded the students that consistency, hard-work and determination were the key to crack competitive exams, noting that without hardwork it would be a waste of talent.
Pointing on the Nagas nature of studying, she said most of the students tend to prepare only before exams, but in order to success in academic and crack civil service, consistency in reading and adapt smart studying was needed.
Also speaking at the event, J.E. PWD (R&B), Er. Hekato Assumi, encouraged the students to put God first and keep prayer as their stronghold. He also encouraged the gathering to work hard reminding them everyone has 24 hours but the utilization of proper time will differentiate their goal.
Earlier, the programme chaired by HASSU asst. general secretary Tokito Awomi and women coordinator Lituna Chophy began with an invocation by youth pastor Sumi Baptist church Ekranipathar Abeto Z.
Greeting message was delivered by chairman, Diphupar village council Ghuzui Shohe, offering and prayer for the students by pastor Sumi Baptist church Diphupar Nikhui Achumi, special number by cultural secretary HASSU Nikito Zhimo and benediction by youth pastor Khushiabill Sumi Baptist church Mughasheli Yeptho.
On the occasion, HASSU also felicitated some of its members who have cleared NPSC, NSSB candidates and HSLC & HSSLC (2022 – 2023) toppers including successful toppers. A debate on the topic “Mass marriage” was organised where Grace from Naga united emerged as the winner against the motion debater and Huto (motion) from valley view.
The evening entertainment session chaired by Toli Awomi and Khuvito Achumi witnessed the most anticipating part of the event Mr & Miss HASSU where, Aghato Sumi bagged the Mr. HASSU tittle and Miss HASSU by Loino. The contestants of Mr and Miss HASSU were groomed by Sarah Zhimomi, with special performance from Psycho 4K, Z World and Tokhuli Yepthomi. Meanwhile, HASSU has elected a new team for 2024-25 to be led by Anato Shohe from Bamunpukhri unit as president and general secretary as Khuvito Achumi from Naga United.
It may be mentioned that the chief guest on the opening day of the conference should be read as Pro Vice chancellor Dr. Akali Sema not as earlier published.
