Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma graced the inaugural function of the 1st Open Badminton Tournament of Aoleang as special guest on April 1 at Badminton Stadium, Mon. The tournament was organized by Mon District Badminton Association Officer Club Mon
A press release by information assistant Mon stated that DC Mon, in his address expressed his gratitude to the pioneers who first laid their ideas of Badminton at Mon and also MDBA and Officer Club for organizing the Tournament. He said every festival is linked with the economic life of our society, adding that some celebrate on post-harvest and the other on pre cultivation and the Aoleang festival is also celebrated to mark the end of the year and invoke God’s blessing for the New Year.
He encouraged youngsters to enjoy, expose yourself and develop while playing.
Delivering the Keynote address, Er. Tingten Konyak, said badminton is one of the best games, where there is no age limitation. It also helps in developing health and mind. He also added that winning and losing doesn’t matter and that participating is very important. He encouraged players to take such tournaments as an opportunity and play with discipline and improve themselves.
President of MDBA, Y. Pongba welcomed the special guest Ajit Kumar Verma, invitees, and players from different places for the coming. He specially thanked the DC Mon for giving an idea to organize this tournament and requested the members to cooperate, to continue in the years to come.
