An activist of the NSCN(I-M)cadre identified as ‘Lieut’ Aphong Tangkhul, son of late Azar of Phaipong village under Tadubi, Senapati, and a resident of Duncan Bosti, Dimapur was arrested by personnel of 42 Assam Rifles during routine frisking on Sunday with .32 MM pistol and six live ammunitions. Meanwhile, according to a release issued by the PRO, IGAR(N), the activist riding a motorcycle, was moving from Patkai bridge towards Seithekima village ‘C’. Assam Rifles continue to launch flushing out operations against armed factions throughout Nagaland to prevent presence or movement of armed cadres building up in areas to vitiate peace and subsequent harassment to innocent civilians, the release said. It also said the Assam Rifles columns continued to dominate sensitive areas identified within the State and round the clock vigil maintained. MVCPs, patrolling frisking of suspected vehicles and personnel will continue, it said. Assam Rifles have been put on high alert and “instructed to adopt stringent measures against erring factions violating laid down Cease Fire Ground Rules by the Government of India”, it added.
