Surprise visit to Dmu fire station

DIMAPUR: Parliamentary Secretary for Fire Service, Jail and Home Guard, W.C. Kithan along with DMC member, Simon on Monday paid a surprised visit to Dimapur Fire Service office. W.C. Kithan assured Vizakie Letro, officer in-charge, Dimapur Fire Service for renovation the office building and carpeting the compound and for which he requested the officer to send estimate of the project. Kithan donated a sum of Rs.5000/- towards the Fire Service Welfare Fund.
During his brief interaction with the fire service personnel, W.C Kithan enquired about the grievances of the department to which Vizakie Letro, officer in-charge of Dimapur Fire Service briefed the Parliamentary Secretary of the present scenario of the department. The department had 5 fire tender and 1 foam fire tender along with 70 personnel to look after the whole Dimapur District, and sometimes had to attend to call from our neighboring state (Assam), said officer in- charge adding that it was not possible to cater the needs even non combating enrolment staff was included.
Officer-in-charge also highlighted the parliamentary secretary on need of the department to create 2 more sub-stations, each at D.C Court junction and at Chumukedima including water reservoirs.
Later, W.C. Kithan also assured to look into to problems regarding the newly constructed Fire Service Office located four miles away from Chumukedima town covering an area of 1200 sq.ft that had been neglected for the past two years without power supply.
