BJP hits out at Wangyuh

BJP Nagaland unit has lashed out at the State’s lone Rajya Sabha MP Wangyuh Konyak of NPF for voting in favour of the UPA in the confidence vote contrary to the directive of the NPF president, and said the MP had no more moral right to represent the Naga people as he had opposed the mandate of the people for his “selfish reasons.”
Leader of State BJP parliamentary party and Forest minister MC Konyak in a press release also hit out at the Congress party and alleged that the political interference of the Congress and the party’s policy of bribery and luring MPs to vote for the Congress had made Wangyuh a victim of the most negative means of horse trading and corruption in Indian politics.
The BJP alleged that members of the State Congress party led by Chingwang Konyak and PCC president had connived with and purchased Wangyuh to vote in favour of the trust vote. “The nexus between the NPF MP and the Congress can further be justified as the nefarious Congressman Bobby Panicker was found in Wangyuh’s residence on 21st July. This can be verified even from the Honorable Rajya Sabha MP Shri Khekiho Zhimomi who was also a witness to the presence of Panicker in Wangyuh’s house,” the BJP claimed.
Terming the action and behaviour of Wangyuh as a “political blunder and betrayal not only to the NPF but also the entire Naga people,” and one that Wangyuh would regret, the BJP said Wangyuh had now no more moral right to represent the Naga people.
“The Congress policy of corruption and bribery has been exposed by the BJP in parliament and the role of Wangyuh is just a small example of what lengths the Congress is going to sell the prestige and reputation of the country,” the BJP added.
The State BJP further said it was pained to observe the “political activism and biased indulgence of the deputy resident commissioner of the office of resident commissioner, Mrs. Khrienuo Metha and her husband Mr. Robert.”
The party alleged that the duo had been totally involved in conniving with the Congress party even in the previous term and that they were misusing their position to further the cause of the Congress party.
“This is very unbecoming for a government servant and it has become necessary that the chief secretary take immediate action against the DRC,” the State BJP said.
