Students demolish ‘illegal structure’

Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) took a bold step in fighting against the encroachers upon Government Higher Secondary School land at Nagarjan by dismantling and demolishing walls and structures build on the school land on Thursday.
The operation was led by Solomon, DNSU president and official along with hundreds of students from different schools and colleges. It is worth mentioning that unlike the DMC the students did the job with just ‘couple of hammers’.
During the demolishing drive some were given a week time to dismantle the structures and some even started arguing by producing stay order from the high court, stating that they possessed the land patta and had been giving the land revenue for the past years. Later, briefing the media at the DNSU office Solomon said “the district administration, police, GB’s, DB’s had surveyed and demarcated the said areas to which the effected land owners had suggested and assured us to dismantle themselves but now instead of that they are arguing by producing a stay order”.
Solomon further appealed to the government departments and agencies to issuing stay order and pattas without proper verification and requested the DMC on behalf of the students’ community not to forget the Government Higher Secondary School during the beautification drive.
