NU adopts entrepreneurial skills

To ignite the minds of young people on entrepreneurial skills, a two month long training programme on ‘entrepreneurial skills development’ was conducted by the Women Studies Centre (WSC), Nagaland University in partnership with Entrepreneur Associates (EA). The certification ceremony of the training was held Wednesday at Ura Academy.
Altogether 28 students participated in the training, where motivational classes, practical training, self confidence, communication, work culture, salesmanship etc were taught. During the training, the trainees took their first step in the art of making money and entrepreneurship and earned a total amount of Rs. 92, 122. Peacetoli, a trainee, earned the highest amount of Rs. 8, 361.
Speaking at the certification ceremony, Prof K. Kannan, vice chancellor, Nagaland University, said Nagaland University had more social responsibility than just producing graduates. He said it must work for development of the society. Expressing his concern over 46,000 alarming number of unemployed youths in the state, he urged the trainees to take the plunge and start something that nobody else did.
Coordinator of Entrepreneurs Associates, Neichüte Doulo, asserted that NU should be engaged in creating wealth and employment opportunities for Nagaland to generate its own resources and employment. He expressed hope that the NU would help students look beyond government jobs and also change the mindset of the people. He further stated that the employment solutions, as learned from the training, would bring about positive change.
Director of WSC, NU, Dr. I. Anungla Aier, said that young people were in need on capacity training, and asserted that the NU should ignite the minds of people in finding their own ways, rather than just imparting education.
Highlights of the programme included distribution of certificates to the trainees by the VC, Prof. K. Kannan. Other speeches and song were delivered by the trainees, while Erali Swu, lecturer and course coordinator of WSC, NU delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was chaired by Director of WSC, NU, Dr. I. Anungla Aier.
