2 additional wards for MMC

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung has notified that as per government notification dated September 26, in exercise of the power conferred under section 6 (1) (a) & (2) of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001, the Government wants to increase the number of Mokokchung Municipal Council Wards from 16 (sixteen) to 18 (eighteen) by creating 2 (two) additional wards, namely Mongsenphai and Lijaba Lijen wards. The boundaries of the 2 (two) wards are defined for the purpose of election of 1 (one) Municipal Council member each.
Further, in exercise of the powers under section 6 (3) of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2001, any inhabitant of the specified areas desiring to object to the notification have been asked to submit his/her objection, in written to the government through the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, within 30 (thirty) days from the date of issue of this notification. Detailed boundary demarcation of the proposed Mongsenphai and Lijaba Lijen wards under MMC. Mongsenphai ward: North: – Kumlong ward, East: – Arkong ward, Assam Rifles Camp, West:- Ungma land area, South: – Ungma village land and Sewak gate. Lijaba Lijen ward: North: – Civil Hospital/Majakong ward, East: – Mokokchung village land area, West:- Artang ward area, South:- Ungma village land area.
