Death of ex-DCC president condoled
DIMAPUR: K V Pusa, MLA, President, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee expressed shock at the sudden demise of Kedowhetuo former president Kohima District Congress Committee, who passed away Wednesday morning. The MLA said by his untimely demise the party has lost a true congressman who had served the party with outmost sincerity and dedication, and further expressed sympathy on behalf of his family and the party, conveying heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed God will grant solace to them in this hour of grief.
MVC bans hunting, fishing
DIMAPUR: Meriyan Village Council (MVC) has prohibited outsiders hunting in Shaki, Sankiton and Meriyan territory for “security reasons and conservation of wild animals”. MVC has also banned fishing with poisonous liquid chemicals, bleaching, lime etc in Chutho Nzhu river and sale of alcohol (lMFL, local beverages) within its jurisdiction. A press release issued by Chairman, MVC, DR. L.T Tsanglao (Rtd) informed that offenders would be penalized with fine as per amount fixed by MVC.
Inaugural of Meriyan village
DIMAPUR: Meriyan Village under Wozhuro EAC Circle, Wokha district would be inaugurated on November 14. Registered Meriyan villagers and well wishers from Shaki and Sankiton have been invited to grace the inaugural function
KVC condemns murder
DIMAPUR: Kidima Village Council (KVC) has condemned the brutal killing of Kevilesü Thore son of late Thore who passed away on October 7 at Dimapur by unidentified persons. Condemning the incident, KVC stated late Kevilesü was an innocent and law abiding citizen in the village who was never in unlawful activity or organisation residing in Forest colony, Kohima. KVC has expressed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed that almighty God grant solace to them.
NSS camping at Rephyim village
DIMAPUR: A three day special camping programme of National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers under programme officer John, senior lecturer, Mount Tiyi College conducted at old Rephyim village concluded on October 13. Students of class XII, and degree level from various villages attended the camp where cleanliness drive at tourist village besides seminar and orientation programme on national disaster management and HIV and AIDS awareness was conducted. According to programme officer, villagers responded to the activities undertaken by the volunteers.
KSH office bearers
Kohima: The Kohima Sumi Hoho has elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2008-11. The team is being led by Qhukiye Swu as the president, Hevito Labo as the vice president, Lhokiye Yeputhomi as the general secretary, Kuhato Zhimomi as the joint secretary, Hevito Shohe as the cultural secretary, Yelvi Awomi as the joint cultural secretary, Tokuho Zhimo as the finance secretary, Shihoto Chophi as the publicity and information secretary, Kehoyi Awomi as the cemetery in-charge and Henito Kesho as the banker.
