5 militants held in M’laya

Security forces have arrested five militants, including two activists of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (I-M), following a search operation in Meghalaya, a police official said today
Security forces also learned that the group was planning hit and run operations in Garo Hills areas. Police seized a Chinese made hand grenade, incriminating documents from their possession
East Garo Hills District Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtynger said all the five militants – three from People’s Liberation Front of Meghalaya and two NSCN (IM) militants – were arrested last night from Mendipathar area, bordering Assam.
“All five attempted to escape but we managed to grab them,” the SP said, adding that the group was planning terrorist attacks.
Nongtynger also said that security forces are still continuing to raid several places in certain areas of the district wherein PLFM and NSCN (IM) militants are holed up.
Meanwhile, the arrested militants have been identified as Dablin N Sangma and Babul K Sangma of the NSCN (IM) and Sumar K Marak, Gradual Sangma and Pankaj Khalakary belonging to the PLFM group.
Police have registered against them.
