Aye inaugurates 47th SASA meet

Minister for Roads and Bridges, Kaito Aye on Wednesday inaugurated the 47th sports meet of the Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) at Jakhama village ground.
Addressing the gathering, Aye said that sports can bring all sections of the society together, and urged sportspersons to spread the message of peace to the world. “Unless total peace is restored and we are free from unwanted elements, the society will not progress”, he said. Stating that there is no internal peace, the minister asked the youth to make sports as a source of building harmony and unity amongst the people.
Aye also exhorted the sportspersons to abide by the spirit of sportsmanship and spread it to other parts of the society.
The minister was accompanied by MLA and Advisor IT and TE, Vikho-o Yhoshu and Chief Engineer, Hitovisa. Others who attended the meeting included AYO office bearers, NASA, ASSU, SAPO and ASA. About 5,000 people attended the inaugural programme. The chief guest donated Rs. 1 lakh towards the SASA and Rs. 10,000 to the folk song group. Chief engineer, Hitovisa also donated Rs. 10,000.
The inaugural function was marked by unfurling of association flag by chief guest and oath taking led by the tournament director. The three day sports event will feature free style wrestling, football and volley ball matches.
