Leo Club of Dimapur (LCD) and The Rotaract Club of Dimapur (RCD) celebrated “Kargil Vijaya Diwas” on July 26, under the presidentship of Rishab Chhabra and Akash Jain at Lions Club Dimapur.
Members of the clubs gathered and joined hands together to light candles to remember the heroes of the Kargil war.
The project chairman was Nalini Jain and Ashok Kochar and co-chairperson, Priya Chhabra.
The event was noticed by PRO Manoj Borah and PRO Pravin Jain.
Also, Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a lecture on the occasion of Kargil Victory Day at its Battalion Headquarter and Coy Operating Bases of Tuli, Dessoi, Changki and Longleng.
A press release from Assam Rifles said the main emphasis of the lectures was on educating the audience about the operations undertaken by the Indian Army during the Kargil conflict.
The supreme sacrifice made by numerous men in uniform was a highlight of all the lectures as also the contribution of North East by bringing out the achievements of local war heroes in the likes of Capt N. Kengruse, MVC of 2 RAJ RIF and Capt Clifford Nongrum, MVC of 12 JAK RIF. Four officers, 20 JCOs and 180 Jawans, in addition to 45 students, 20 teachers and 25 civilians participated in the lectures.
