World Population Stabilization Fortnight, which commenced from July 11, culminated on July 24 in Peren district. The fortnight had family planning camps being held in all the health units providing free family planning services.
A press release from district media officer CMO office Peren, Pezanguno Celine Secii stated that senior medical officer (Obs & Gynae), Dr. Yetovi and his team from CHC Jalukie conducted the laparoscopic ligation cases. A total of 21 laparoscopic and 16 IUCDs were done.
Counsel was given by medical officers and nurses in their respective health units and also distributed IEC materials in local dialects apart from free family planning services. ASHA’s conducted inter personnel communication in the villages for intensive awareness at the grass root levels. Focus group discussion was conducted by the ASHA coordinators.
Information was given through microphone announcements and also through church announcements in the district headquarters as well as in the block levels.
During the camp, condoms, oral pills and emergency pills were also distributed and female contraceptive injections were provided to the District Hospital and CHC Jalukie.
