Deptts, CSOs observe 75th Independence Day


DIMAPUR: Along with various departments of the state government and civil society organisations, the department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences (AH&VS) observed the 75th Independence Day by carrying out anti-rabies vaccination camps in Dimapur and Kohima.
Dimapur: Commemorating the 75th Independence Day celebration, AH&VS Dimapur organized a free anti-rabies vaccinations and veterinary extension camp Monday, here at district veterinary hospital, Burma camp.
During a short programme, deputy chief veterinary office, Dimapur Dr. Immomannen Tz├╝dir while delivering technical highlights, spoke on how Nagas had started to adopt the culture of keeping pets.
In this regard, he said that most commonly, the people for pets for companionship, to protect a home or property or because of the perceived beauty of the animals.
As far as pet keeping was concerned, he said that owners should also understand the requirements of pets such as keeping them clean, healthy and vaccinated.
Highlighting the importance of vaccination, Dr. Immomannen said that pets should be vaccinated to protect them from many highly contagious and deadly diseases.
At the programme, keynote address was delivered by CVO Dimapur, Dr. Salangtemjen while PowerPoint presentation was delivered by AH&VS Dimapur VAS, Dr. Bocto Sumi on the common diseases, their prevention and control in pets.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by VHD VS Dr. KN Zubemo Humtsoe and vote of thanks was delivered by VHD VAS Dr Vikshe Sumi.
During the programme, leaflets of vaccination and deworming scheduled in domestic animals and birds, frequently asked questions on rabies etc., along with vitamins for the pets were also distributed. A together, 157 dogs were administered with the anti-rabies vaccine. (Staff Reporter)
Meanwhile, Agarwal Yuva Manch (AYM), Dimapur celebrated the 75th Independence Day under the banner of Shree Agarwal Mahasabha and Cooperation of Shree Agarwal Mahila Manch Dimapur.
In a press release, AYM PRO informed that during the programme, the national flag was hoisted at Shree Durga Mandir premises.
The members also visited the neighbourhood orphanage home at midland Dimapur and distributed water tanks, dustbin and snacks to the children, followed by a tree plantation.
Dimapur Bongs observed the 75th Independence Day on August 15 at its office premises. The programme was attended by St. Mary Higher Secondary School, Neena Dutta as the special guest.
In a press release, Dimapur Bongs informed that the event began with unfurling of national flag and singing of national anthem, followed by cultural programme.
Kohima: District chief veterinary office Kohima under the AH&VS department conducted an anti-rabies vaccination & animal health camp on August 15 at veterinary hospital, Kohima.
According to a DIPR report, VAS, Vety. dispensary, Chiephobozou, Kohima, Dr. Vikuolie Mezhatsu informed that altogether, 253 dogs were vaccinated against rabies disease and 47 livestock animals were provided with free health treatment.
Mangkolemba: Mangkolemba sub-division celebrated the 75th Independence Day at public ground, Mangkolemba on August 15 with additional deputy commissioner Mangkolemba, Dharam Raj as the chief guest.
During the programme, the chief guest unfurled the national flag, took rashtriya salute and delivered Independence Day speech. The celebration was attended by all heads of offices from the sub-division.
