Naga Hoho delegation visits NC Hills


Naga Hoho (NH) has condemned the alleged stepmotherly treatment meted out to Nagas by Assam government and assured to extend support to them through appropriate authorities.
This followed a visit by a hoho delegation led by its president HK Zhimomi to Lodi village, near Haflong in Assam’s NC Hills, on December 10 organised by Zeliangrong civil society organisations (CSOs), NH media cell stated.
During a public meeting held on the occasion, members of Rengma and Zeliangrong briefed the visiting team on the grievances faced by Nagas living in Assam. The delegation appreciated and acknowledged the unflinching support and cooperation of Rengma-Zeliangrong Joint Council, Assam to NH.
During the public meeting, the hoho called for peace and unity among the Nagas while in search for a solution to the Indo-Naga political issue.
The team apprised the Nagas of Assam on the ongoing Naga peace talks and the prevailing siatuation in Nagaland due to atrocities by Indian Army on innocent Naga civilian at Oting village on December 4.
Appealing to Naga communities living in Assam to extend support and expressed solidarity with Oting villagers and the Konyak community in general in their pursuit for peace and justice, NH urged the two communities to observe total shutdown within their respective jurisdiction.
On its part, the Joint Council endorsed the activities of NH and said it stood committed to the ongoing peace process while keeping in mind that only integration of Naga-inhabited areas could bring about a lasting solution to the Indo-Naga political issue.
Condemns: Naga Hoho has condemned the brutal killing of innocent civilians at Oting village, under Mon district on December 4 and 5 by the Indian security forces for no rhyme or reason.
The Hoho stated that the incident itself was a proven fact that the Indian security forces do not have the sense of humanity and respect for the God’s creation of man in His own image. It stated that the Government of India (GoI) must come out clearly and take the responsibility to not only condemn but befitting actions be taken against those perpetrators.
It also demanded the GoI to repeal AFSPA from Naga inhabited areas.
The Hoho expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for God’s comfort and strength.
