Eight hearing impaired participants from Nagaland participated at the 7th All India Conference of the Deaf (AICD) on May 18-21 in Guwahati, Assam, and won many prizes.
A press release by Nagaland State Disability Forum (NSDF) informed that the event was organised by the All India Federation of the Deaf (AIFD), New Delhi, and hosted by the Assam Association of the Deaf (AAD) at Madhavdeva International Auditorium, Guwahati.
The 7th AICD took place after a gap of 35 years. The four-day conference included a host of activities from presentations to discussions on various topics concerning deaf people’s rights to deaf cultural shows.
NSDF said the participants from Nagaland participated in the mega event and took part in other various activities showcasing their talents and Nagaland’s rich and vibrant culture and tradition.
The team won the following prizes – Nuchet Longchar, first prize in mime; Tekamendang Sangtam, first runners up, Mr. Deaf Senior; Khetoli Kiba, Rodeno Tungoe, Ozunglemla Ozkhum, Echungbemo Kikon, Tekamendang Sangtam, Nuchet Longchar, second prize in cultural dance.
