All Nagaland Auxiliary Nursing Midwives (ANMs) under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) have served a seven-day ultimatum on the state government to release their pending salary.
In a joint statement, coordinators of all Nagaland ANM under CSS cautioned that failure to release their salary within stipulated period would be compel them to launch agitation in a democratic way until their due salaries were paid. The coordinators stated that salary from March 2023 to May 2023 for ANMs regular under CSS working in different centres in Nagaland and from January 2023 to May 2023 for the district of Zunheboto have not been paid.
The coordinators said that since 2016 their salaries have been paid irregularly gravely affecting their living conditions. They said it was becoming impossible for them to work without regular salaries being paid.
They alleged discrimination on AMS under CSS as compared to other ANMs working in the other centres or district hospitals, whose salaries were being paid regularly. “We are rendering our services with utmost diligence but the irregularities in payment of salaries and non-payment of salaries on months end have made it impossible for us to go on,” the coordinators stated.
ANMs said they approached the authorities on many occasions to settle the matter of irregular payment of salaries but there had been no positive response. Therefore, ANM said they have no other option but to serve ultimatum starting June 20, 2023 on government to pay the pending salaries.
