Practise yoga for healthy mind & body: Gov

Nagaland joined rest of the world in observing the 9th International Day of Yoga on Wednesday.
Governor La Ganesan took part at the State-level yoga organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) in collaboration with AYUSH Mission and Department of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) at the Indra Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
In his short message, the governor appealed to everyone to practise yoga for a healthy mind and body. He expressed happiness at the State government organising the programme on the International Yoga day. He maintained that yoga was not only a physical exercise, but also included breathing techniques and mental conditioning.
He also spoke on the significance of the International Day of Yoga, which was decided by the United Nations in 2014 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had actively promoted it.
Along with Ganesan, YRS commissioner & secretary Wezope Kenye, YRS secretary Anthony Ngully, YRS director Kethosituo Sekhose, Kohima deputy commissioner Shanavas C, officials from Raj Bhavan, AYUSH Mission and H&FW, NCS probationers, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and students from various educational institutions, including IG and Patkai College, participated at the programme.
The event was led by AYUSH SPO Dr Seyiekhrietuo John. This was stated in a Raj Bhavan press release.
Yoga programmes were also organised at different locations across the State, including at camps of security forces.
