Narcotics worth Rs 48 crore destroyed at Karbi Anglong


To mark the “International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking” district administration and Karbi Anglong police destroyed huge quantity of seized illicit and contraband drugs in full public view in a private brick-kiln located in Diphu- Manja Road at the fringe of Diphu town. Drugs worth around 48 crore rupees was hurled inside the furnace of the brick kiln.
Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong, Sanjib Saikia and other senior police officers monitored the obliteration of the narcotics. Later Saikia told the media present at the site that the market price of the assorted drugs would be around Rs. 48,40,05,900.
The destroyed drugs are includes heroin 11.262 kilograms, ganja or marijuana 1718.784 kilogram, opium 66.568 kgs, Crystal alias Syabu (Methamphetamine) 5.238 kgs, morphine 0.949 kg, cough syrup with sedative ingredient 358 bottles, tablets with 85068banned narcotic, heroin from a different seizer 585.99 grams.
