Two ‘abducted’ by NSCN (I-M) rescued

Two civilians allegedly “abducted” by NSCN (I-M) were rescued on June 25 midnight by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Dimapur Police at Hotel Aipan, Dimapur.
A press release by PRO HQ IGAR (N) informed that the joint team in “a swift and bold operation rescued two civilians abducted by NSCN I-M”, who were held “captive for more than three weeks for a ransom of Rs. 15 lakhs”. PRO informed that the two victims from Orissa and West Bengal were abducted on June 3 and were “subjected to inhumane treatment”. In this connection, PRO said two NSCN (I-M) cadres and one “over ground worker” were apprehended from the hotel while the “mastermind” was arrested from Aoyimkum village. During the arrest of the “mastermind”, PRO said one .32 mm pistol with 10 live rounds and two country-made 12 bore guns were recovered. PRO also alleged that the arrested cadres and over ground workers were involved in “illegal transactions of money”.
