NSSO, FOD Kohima celebrates ‘17th Statistics Day’

National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), Field Operation Division (FOD), Regional Office Kohima joined the nation in celebrating the “17th Statistics Day”, Thursday.
A press release by NSSO FOD Kohima informed that the day was celebrated under Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation’s theme, “Alignment of State Indicator Framework with National Indicator Framework for monitoring Sustainable Development Goals”.
The day marks the birth anniversary of late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, recognising his valuable contribution in the field of economic planning and statistics.
During the occasion, the regional head and director NSSO Regional Office Kohima gave a brief account on sustainable development goals monitoring frameworks developed at the national and state level.
The director stated national indicator framework and state indicator framework provides an appropriate direction to the decision makers and implementers of various schemes and policies.
A special presentation on NSS indicators mapped for monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) highlighting the contributions of NSSO was delivered during the event by the assistant director, NSSO RO Kohima.
