Injury woes end Nagaland Wushu Association progress at National C’ship

Two key players from Nagaland dislocated their shoulders and could not continue the match as Nagaland Wushu Association team crushed out of the 32nd National Championship 2023 at Pune’s Chatrapati Sports Complex.
A total of five players took part in different categories for sanda events namely Rakesh Mahato, Mankho T Konyak, Kethosilie Kuosa, Atokivi T Chishi, Keyisuiding Lungalang led by Gabriel Khamo and Azhove Resu as the coach and manager respectively.
The best fighters from Nagaland namely Kethosilie Kuosa (52kg) and Atokivi T Chishi (60kg) dislocated their shoulders in the second-round matches. Despite winning the first bouts, they had to withdraw from their respective match as they were unable to continue the bout.
While Rakesh Mahato (70kg) and Keyisuiding Lungalang (75 kg) reach the pre-quarter final round but squandered their opportunities to accept defeat with an inch away from qualifying at the national games if they enter the quarterfinal round.
Mankhoi T Konyak for 56kg was not able to defend with some poor decisions from the referee to end his saga in the tournament.
More than 1500 athletes from 45 associations across the country participated in the mega sporting event. The event was organised by Wushu Association of India hosted by Maharashtra Wushu Association.
Nagaland team will leave Pune on Saturday and return to Nagaland on Tuesday.
