KISCE lifts 1st NOWFL


Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) emerged as the champion of the 1st Nagaland Open Women Football League (NOWFL) beating Peren District Women Football Club in the final at IG Stadium, here on Saturday night.
In the final match, KISCE scored 6 goals against a goaless PDWFC and secured themselves the title.
In the individual category, the best goalkeeper was bagged by Nyitsorho Nyusou, the goalie of Phek District Football Association (FAPD) while the top scorer was bagged by Mhalo P Mozhiu playing for KISCE. The top scorer of the tournament was Neke K playing for KISCE while player of the tournament went to Chimmushe playing for KISCE.
In the third place was Football Association of Phel District (FAPD), in the fourth was Hilly Girls FC and in the fifth position was Northern Angami Youth & Sports Association-C (NAYSA-C).
Speaking as the special guest during the prize distribution ceremony, advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, Keoshu Yimchunger said the 1st NOWFL was the mark of a beginning of new era of sports transformation in the state. He said the government was keen to explore and make use of the talented youths by providing avenues through government supports in every possible means to promote and compete with the rest.
He said sports was one such competition which requires physical involvements in all categories. In this regard, he urged all the sports lovers to maintain their own physical health.
Yimchunger pointed out that It “our” forefathers were strong and versatile because of their healthy and exotic food habits which still runs in “our” blood today.
Yimchunger congratulated all the participating teams of who will go down in history as participants of the first women’s football in our state.
