KVK conducts training on ‘nursery management’ and turmeric

Two-day training programme on “Nursery management and Seedlings production” was organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren on February 8 and 9 2024 at VLO office, Mhainamtsi village. The training was sponsored by NEH programme of Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, (IIHR) Bangaluru in collaboration with Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Jalukie Block.


On day one, the training covered topics such as nursery site selection, layout, bed preparation, characteristics and selection of good seeds, methods of sowing, management of pest and diseases and care and transplantation to field. On day two, a demonstration on nursery bed preparation, seed selection and sowing were conducted in one of the self-help group’s garden.


DFS, Dzüthovi Kapfo and BPM Jalukie Block, Francis Amua at the valedictory session, spoke on the goal of NSRLM to let every SHG member have an “agri nutri garden” asserting the importance of the consumption of organic vegetables.
Attended by 25 participants, ACTO, KVK Peren, Dr. Patu K Zeliang, served as training coordinator. Free gardening too kits were distributed.


KVK Tuensang: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tuensang conducted day long training on “Post harvest handling and value addition of turmeric”, sponsored by Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema, on February 8, at Angangba village, Tuensang.


A press release by KVK Tuensang informed that ACTO (Agronomy), Samuel Sangtam, spoke on importance and scope of value added products of turmeric, while ACTO (Horticulture), Dr. Kerimenla, imparted scientific techniques of post-harvest management to develop various value added products so as to minimize the post-harvest losses as well as to make higher returns from the produce, and ACTO (Animal Science), Dr. Temjennungsang delivered vote of thanks. The training was attended by 50 participants.
