Lions Club Dimapur (LCD) along with Blue Venda (BV) of Dimapur, celebrated Charter Nite with Lions District Governor (DG) Dr. Shantanu Lahkar, gracing the occasion, here at Lions centre, on February 11. Delivering a short speech, at the programme, LCD president, Basu Damani said 2024 would be a year of infrastructure development and increasing membership of the club.
Damani while highlighting about several major activities carried out by the club, informed that the club were looking forward to install its first blood bank in Dimapur. He informed that they were in talks with distinguished personalities from Chumoukedima for sponsoring another club.
He said the achievements of the club was due to unity among the members in decision making.
Dr. Shantanu Lahkar, while recalling about conducting camp for handicaps at LCD as a professor and Orthopedic surgeon, acknowledged the club for posing trust in him to be the DG.
He acknowledged LCD vision and initiative to install the club’s first blood bank in the city. At the induction ceremony, six new members who joined LCD took the oath conducted by DG. LCD has also been conducting free health centre and children’s vaccination under club permanent project.
Secretary LC, Gopal Sharma presenting the secretarial report highlighted some of the activities and services carried out by the club including installing of welcome board at all entry points in Dimapur, providing medical assistance of Rs. 5000 to a poor patient, organizing eye scanning camp in association with Jorhat Eye hospital at club premises where more than 1200 people were screened and 140 patient were sent for cataract surgery at Jorhat, etc.
Secretary BV Mamoni Mazumdar also presented secretarial report highlighting administrative report and activities conducted by BV members. Earlier, prior to the meeting, LCD officials along with the DG held meeting and discussed on various achievements and future developmental activities.
