Workers arrive Wokha to begin work on NH-02

Correspondent

Following the PWD (National Highways) chief engineer’s directive to resume two-lane construction works on NH-2 (Old NH-61) within 10 days, the workers of TTC Infra India Pvt Ltd have arrived Wokha on Friday.

Even as its first group of workers arrived, TTC Infra has reaffirmed its commitment to begin the work. The company informed that the first batch team would construct breast walls and retaining walls, which were critical components of the project.

It was informed that mobilisation efforts were complete and essential machineries would arrive on February 17 and work would also commence the same day. It was learnt that additional batches of workers were to join the workforce in the coming days.

It may be mentioned that on February 13 last, the Lotha civil society organisations announced suspension of NH-2 bandh, which was imposed for five days, subject to re-imposition. Bandh was called off after Lotha legislators made the appeal in order to enable them to negotiate with the contractor and government authorities.
